Travel Photo and Video Journaling Accessories

I am far from a professional when it comes to photography and videography but I do enjoy reviewing my travel photos and videos because they transport me back to the time and space featured in the shot or video.  That’s why over the last few years I have gotten pretty serious about making sure I have the right compact travel accessories for travel photo and video journaling.  Below are some of my current favs.

Camera Phone

The iPhone 7 Plus is essentially my camera while traveling.  It not only allows me to take high quality images, the built-in (or readily accessible) applications make it very easy to edit and post photos on the go. I also have a Sony Alpha DSLR*, which takes excellent photos and video, but I never carry it with me because it is pretty bulky to travel with so I don’t get much usage out of it.

Personal HotSpot

Because WiFi is life, I also love to have a personal hotspot.  It allows me to access my cloud storage and save things to my cloud if I am running out of space.   My current favorite hotspot is SkyRoam*.   Use the code TBMSKYROAM to receive 10% off.

Flexible Tripod

A flexible tripod is great for taking remote shots without having to ask strangers (or my husband) to take a photo.  My favorite tripod is the Joby Gorilla Tripod*, it is flexible, includes a level so you can make sure your pictures aren’t crooked and it can be bent to grab onto things to capture shots you might be able to capture with a traditional tripod.

Phone Tripod Mount

In order to take the selfies using the Gorilla Tripod, I also need a phone mount. My favorite mount is the Ulanzi Tripod Phone Mount with Hot Shoe Mount*.  With this particular mount, I can also attach a microphone to get better quality sound.

Bluetooth Remote

A Bluetooth remote makes it easy for me to take selfies from far when using my tripod.  My favorite is the CamKix  Camera Shutter Remote with Bluetooth Technology*.

Back-up Battery

I use my electronic devices often so a charger is essential.  My absolute favorite travel charger is the Mophie 3x Powerstation*. This back-up battery has enough power to fully charge 3 devices and allows you to charge 2 devices at a time. It is also very compact (about the size of the iPhone 7 Plus) so it is very easy to transport.

Underwater Video Camera

I don’t swim but I like to take underwater photos and videos so an underwater camera is a must.  My favorite underwater camera is GoPro HERO session*.  It is compact.  There are several cool GoPro accessories that I use frequently, such as the wristband and headband*.

Car Charger

I often rent a car while traveling so a double port car charger* is mandatory for traveling my devices.   Even if I am not renting a car, it is sometimes helpful on excursions were there is a private driver and I need to ask the driver to allow me to charge my phone.

Current Converter

I bring a current converter with me on international trips where there is a different current then is supported by my devices.  So rather than packing the current converter, I bring it with me on the plane.  My favorite travel current converter is the Bestek Universal Travel Adapter*.

Multi-Port Charger

If you look at my list above, then you will note that there are three separate devices that require charging.  So usually that means that I have at least three (3) devices that require charging every evening. The RAVPower 6 Port Charger*  is my favorite charger for traveling because it is small and allows me to charge everything together overnight when traveling.
